Totally forgot to post photos of our now working faucet, and disposal button, thanks to the granite guys most recent visit…

L to R: soap dispenser, disposal button, faucet, insta hot/ cold:

The faucets were moved up towards the sink, to increase the functionality of the levers. This was where they were originally supposed to be… But you can sort of make out the patch behind the insta hot:

Yay!

A Semi-secret third floor project revealed: we had marble installed on our deep mansard roof window sills! It started as a joke for using up the rest of the slab we used in the bathroom, but after getting an amazing quote from our stone installer we couldn’t resist.

We painted the 5 sills 18 months ago and just look at the poor things… Plants and old painted wood just don’t get along. Before:

After:

The stone guys were troopers- lugging slabs of Calacutta Michaelangelo between the third floor and the saw outside… more trips than I could count.

So reflective!
A bit of trim and a lot of sealer, and our plants will have a glamourous new home that will last longer than the plants will, I’m sure. Moral? Just ask – you may like the answer!

To complement the credenza and half bath…

Obviously some more stripping sanding and refinishing to go:

Lovely!

Folks, we have installed the sinks and faucets “for real” now, silicone and all. Which means, we’re moving our primary sink location to the 2nd floor. Big step!

You may notice all the drawers are now in place, with pulls installed, and the doors have their new hinges as well. Oh, and soap.

Also installed… L to R: Dimmer for vanity lights, overhead switch, fan timer… All in light almond, with a chrome plate

So to recap, we need to grout, seal, install some trim, install toilet, install showers/ rod, towel warmer… a few outlets… We’re so close!

Installed and ready for action… since we did most of the prep of sanding and poly-ing already, it was just a few steps: 1) Apply thinset

2) lay in the marble; level it up

3) let dry!

The width of the threshold is similar to the other 2nd floor wood thresholds; what do you think? We’re excited.

There’s a few more areas to tile, now that the stone’s in… So lots of mud mixing:

Measuring and cutting:

And getting it on the walls:

End of weekend goal is “no more red”!

… Their stone is successfully set. We’re installing the small pieces ourselves, including these, the window sill and eventually the threshold.

Before- good ol’ redgard:

Apply thinset:

Four niches, after:

Well that’s done, now moving right along now to tile…

We drove to NJ this AM to pick up our window sill (long story) but now it’s in place! Before:

After, sill:

On the left hand side we are tiling up to the stone. On the right hand side is a slice of trim profile… The full version of which we’ll install once the tiling is wrapped up. Then, paint the window!
